Leam Richardson summed up the past two years for Wigan Athletic after his side’s 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
Wigan could have secured promotion to the Sky Bet Championship with a win, but instead the League One leaders were frustrated and had a late penalty appeal turned down. They are three points clear at the top of the table and need one point to return to the second tier.
“I don’t think anybody thought it was going to be straightforward in this ground today with what we’ve had over the last years of Wigan,” Richardson, 42, said. “It’s what we do — we’re resilient. We’ll digest, we’ll reflect, and we’ll come back and we’ll work even harder.”
Wigan fans will have to wait at least another week for a promotion party
