The three new Wigan Warriors recruits who could make their first appearances this weekend

Matty Peet’s side travel to Kingston Park this weekend to take on the Newcastle Thunder.

The Wigan head coach has called up three of the club’s newcomers to his squad for the game.

Warriors last summer announced the signing of Patrick Mago to a two-year deal with an option for a third. The 27-year-old prop master joined the rest of the squad early in pre-season. Born in Otahuhu, New Zealand, he moved to Australia at a young age. As a junior, Mago played for the Souths Logan Magpies before joining the Canberra Raiders. He signed with North Queensland in 2016 and made his NRL debut a year later. He later played for Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney before joining Wigan.

Winger Abbas Miski joins Wigan after spending a season with the London Broncos in the Betfred Championship. The 26-year-old was born in Penrith, Australia, to Lebanese parents. After impressing during his time playing for many feeder clubs in Manly, Miski was called up to the Sea Eagles where he made his NRL debut. He moved to England in 2021 and scored 18 goals in his season with the Broncos.

Brazilian Ramon Silva was born in Sao Paulo but moved to the UK when he was three years old. The prop master started playing rugby at the age of 15 for the Elmbridge Eagles where he impressed and was signed by the London Broncos. Before that, his background was mixed martial arts, taught to him by his father. In addition to moving to Wigan, he recently became a black belt in jiu-jitsu and competes in boxing and MMA.
