About us:

The Wigan Council was named “Council of the Year” at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards and recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our district. We have joined the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment to ensure that your service is continuous or “uninterrupted” between supporting organizations.

Here in Wigan we listen to what our employees tell us and when they told us they wanted to get ahead without moving to a managerial position, we introduced the role of senior social worker. This is not an advanced position, so there are no supervision requirements; This post recognizes the expertise of seasoned social workers who handle a wide variety of cases, share their skills and knowledge with their less experienced colleagues, and work with the Advanced Practitioner to support and develop the team.

As an employer, we would like to thank our employees for their hard work and dedication by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits.

Covid-safe:

Wigan Council prides itself on being a Covid Safe organization. Some of these tasks require you to work from home and virtually connect with your team and others. However, there may be times when you need to go to a church building to perform some of your role. The health and well-being of our employees is very important to us, and if you need to use a community building, a prior risk assessment will be carried out and appropriate safety measures in place.
