Retired Manchester businessman Albert Little proudly displays the latest lamp from Florence Nightingale when she was tending to wounded troops in the Crimean War.
Mr. Albert Little, a 69-year-old retired Manchester businessman, was holding a lamp that Florence Nightingale had given him when he was 12 years old. (01330773) (C) Mirrorpix
69-year-old Little received the lamp from nightingale even when he was 12 years old.
He remembered her as “a nice, kind old lady” who allowed anyone to take shortcuts about their country as long as they asked first.
Nightingale was born in 1820 and is known as ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ according to their habit of doing laps at night.

Manchester City goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, Anyone who broke their neck in a collision in the 1956 FA Cup final signs autographs for the fans.
City won the game against Birmingham City 3-1 with goals from Joe Hayes, Jack Dyson and Bobby Johnstone.
Trautmann was injured 17 minutes after diving full-time at Peter Murphy’s feet.
After Trautmann was initially informed that he had a stab in the neck, he found out three days later that it had slipped five vertebrae – The second of these was broken in two. He could easily have died.

Manchester United footballers David Pegg and Bobby Charlton are in high spirits at Preston Station before boarding the train to play Aston Villa in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

The Red Devils lost 2-1, their only goal came from Tommy Taylor.
Less than a year later, Pegg outside of the left was one of them eight United players who lost their lives in the Munich air disaster dated February 6, 1958.
