Practice your sun salutations on this International Yoga Day and celebrate the possible end of lockdown restrictions a little differently, with free outdoor classes for all abilities at The Great Northern.

In the center of the legendary amphitheater of the Great Northern, world-class yoga teachers from The Life Center will hold 3 sessions for people of all ages and abilities on June 21, 2021 at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. to celebrate this international calendar day.

The event is an annual highlight, but unfortunately had to be canceled in 2020 due to safety regulations at the height of the global pandemic. His return is an exciting sign of normalcy – and a great way to enjoy a much-needed mindfulness and stress-reliever exercise after the most turbulent 18 months most Mancunians have ever known, and of course group exercise.

Start your day with 108 sun salutations under the supervision of experienced yogis as the sun rises over the city. Then enjoy classes tailored for all ages including Fun Functional Flow and classic Vinyasa Yoga.

Mark Schofield, Center Director of The Great Northern said, “We are very excited to bring the Yogathon back this year after a long break. The Great Northern is an inclusive family destination across Manchester so we look forward to welcoming everyone to these fun sessions celebrating International Yoga Day again this year, in partnership with the brilliant team at The Life Center on behalf of the local mental health charity. Manchester spirit. “

Classes start at 7:30 a.m., mats are provided and reservations are recommended, although there is enough space for participants on that day. Please visit the studio’s Eventbrite page to secure your spot.

Events are free, donations from the day’s event will go to the local mental health charity, Manchester Mind.

Joanna Huddart of Manchester Mind added, “We are very excited to have this inspiring annual event happening as the benefits of exercise and mindfulness for positive mental health cannot be underestimated and we are so grateful for the kind support shown of GNW and The Life Center through these changing times. “

Ruth Allan, Business Manager at The Life Center, commented: “We designed these courses to be in harmony with everyday life and hopefully bring a breath of fresh air after more than a year of almost entirely home training. The day also shows that yoga can be done by anyone at any time. “
