Manchester United’s 2-1 loss to Leicester in the Premier League on Tuesday night confirmed that Man City had finally won the title.
Goals from Luke Thomas and Caglar Soyuncu ensured Leicester beat a subpar United at Old Traffford after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 10 changes to his team.
Solskjaer made his debut for young Amad and Anthony Elanga, and although Mason Greenwood continued his good form of scoring with another goal, United got involved in the fifth division of the season.
Solskjaer congratulated City on his crown after the game but insisted United “need a few more to strengthen the squad” before next season if they want to overthrow Pep Guardiola’s side.
In the short term, United will have to prepare for another league game against Liverpool on Thursday evening at Old Trafford. They will try to deny their rivals a top four result.
