Manchester United are not interested in new defensive midfielders and other transfer rumors

Manchester United do not want to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in this summer’s transfer window.

The AS Monaco defensive midfielder became a new target for a position United wanted to bolster throughout the summer window and the club were reportedly ready to move before the deadline.

However, according to Sky Italia’s Fabrizio Romano, there is no upcoming move and United are not interested in signing the young Frenchman this summer, reflecting the coverage of our Manchester United chief writer Samuel Luckhurst.

As Luckhurst also reported on Thursday, further additions seem unlikely at this point, but the departures are starting to increase as Andreas Pereira has agreed to join Flamengo on loan for the coming season.

According to Brazilian outlet TNT, Pereira will be on loan until June 2022 and Flamengo has the option to sign him on a permanent basis next summer for £ 12.7 million should he impress.

He will travel to Brazil on Friday before signing a deal on Saturday and possibly featured ahead of United’s next game against Southampton on Sunday.

Another potential departure is Jesse Lingard, who remains a West Ham target this summer after a six-month loan at London Stadium last season.

According to The Times, Lingard wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford, but unless he is guaranteed regular first-team football, he could still try to leave before the window closes.

The Hammers are said to be preparing an offer even though they are unwilling to meet his offer price of £ 25 million.

Lingard was unavailable for Man United’s opening day win against Leeds as he was still isolating himself after testing positive for COVID-19.

However, he’s since returned and scored in Tuesday’s closed-door friendly win against Burnley, which means he could secure a seat on the bench for Sunday’s Southampton game.
