The start of the fifth and final test between India and England at Manchester’s Old Trafford, which is scheduled to begin on September 10, is likely to be postponed. With less than three hours for the game to start, some Indian players have told the BCCI that they are not comfortable playing the Test in Manchester.

On Wednesday evening, Team India’s assistant physiotherapist, Yogesh Parmar, tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Virat Kohli & Co suspended their training on Thursday. In a good development, however, a report in ESPNCricinfo states that all cricketers have returned negatively.

Before, during the fourth test, Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and R. Sridhar had tested positive for Covid-19. That prevented them from traveling to Manchester with the rest of the contingent.

Team India’s physical therapists, Nitin Patel, Arun and Sridhar, have been identified by the BCCI medical team as close contacts for Shastri and asked to self-isolate. While the other three returned positive, Patel tested negative and joined the roster.
