Manchester City have closed their academy building for ten days after further positive tests were confirmed by players and academy staff.
A group of around 50 moved a U18 and U23 training camp back to the City Football Academy’s training ground on Wednesday after numerous positive tests recorded at a pre-season camp in Loughborough were supported by PCR followers. UPS.
The players, minus those who self-isolate because they tested positive or are in close contact, have continued training in Manchester for the past two days.
However, further tests have shown that the number of people who have now tested positive has risen into the double-digit range.
As a result, City made the decision to close the academy building – one of three locations of the training complex – for ten days and also asked the players and staff who do not need to self-isolate to do a PCR test, then hold on away from the training ground and work from home during this time.
Although preparations for the U18 and U23 in the pre-season are significantly disrupted, City hopes the passage of a breaker will now curb the spread of the virus among the academy’s players and staff and also ensure that there is no chance of cross-contamination for the first team .
Pep Guardiola and his players, minus the teenagers now self-isolating, are expected to report to the training ground as usual on Monday to begin training for the Community Shield and the new Premier League season.
They are also tested regularly and use the first team building that has not been inhabited since May.
