Manchester agency sets up technology communications practice

The Manchester communications agency Social has created a new technology-oriented department with the appointment of industry specialist Sara Donnelly.

Social Tech Communications, led by Donnelly, was founded to help technology and digital first companies as well as traditional organizations work on their digital offerings and to provide communication and PR support.

This is followed by Social’s launch of its own Net Zero practice under the direction of Andrew Cameron-Smith and a new Liverpool office under the direction of Laura Bell.

Sara Donnelly, who becomes director of Social Tech Communications, has over 16 years of PR and communications experience with eight years of direct experience in technology and digital. She has worked with startups and scale-ups to large service providers, supporting technology companies in a range of sectors.

Donnelly said, “The north tech ecosystem is incredibly vibrant, with innovators, incubators, accelerators and investors all working together to deliver pioneering digital products and services that help bring the region to a global stage. So it’s no wonder the northwest was recently identified as the perfect breeding ground for tech startups, scale-ups, and unicorns.

“At a time when the technology sector in the north is thriving, excellent communications are a critical success factor for technology companies to achieve their growth ambitions in an increasingly competitive market. Because of this, I am excited to lead this new division of Social to become the preferred PR and communications partner for technology across the North. “

John Quinton Barber, Social Founder and Group CEO, added, “With new Net Zero and ESG communications departments and an office in Liverpool, a technology communications practice was the next logical step for Social.

“The market is growing fast and with Sara we have the ideal leader to seize this opportunity. Her mix of industry expertise, experience as a communications practitioner and passion for the emerging Nordic technology scene makes this an extremely exciting prospect.”
