Liverpool fans are right to be scared when they look around the Premier League and see their closest rivals’ transfer business.
Manchester United have signed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and are now planning to move Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane while Manchester City are keen to sign both Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have been recommended to replace Erling Haaland, while even Leicester City have already brought in Patson Daka and Boubakary Soumare.
Of course, Jürgen Klopp himself wasn’t a slacker on the transfer market as the Reds quickly closed a deal for Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in May, but that didn’t prevent Liverpool fan base concern about the prospect of their time being left behind.
After all, they were 17 points behind City last season when their title defense in the Premier League fell apart after the new year.

But as the Reds’ rivals take their steps in the transfer market, it remains to be seen what else Liverpool will do this summer.
A center-back was their priority and they quickly signed a center-back after the end of last season.
But while fans may be craving a new striker, a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum in midfield, or even a new back-up right-back, the feeling is that Liverpool will not take such steps until later in the window after making a number of departures has completed completing.
But should that be a surprise?
The Reds needed a center-back and brought one in, with Klopp understandably happy with his strongest starting XI.
There are no gaping holes in a team consisting of; Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, mane.
Sure, one could argue that a fully fit Joe Gomez or Joel Matip in front of Konate as a center-back would get the nod, while there are some who would prefer to nod Diogo Jota in front of Firmino, but as things stand, Liverpool’s strongest Constellation only needs a minimal operation.
The same cannot be said of their rivals.

City need a leading striker, Manchester United need a right winger and a center-back and Chelsea arguably need a striker after Timo Werner struggled in his first season in England.
And those are just the positions covered by public transfer activity, with a look at City’s squad suggesting they might need another left-back as well, while United would benefit from another striker and central midfielder .
But that’s why Liverpool’s rivals are in the big money signing market and the Reds, as things stand, aren’t.
Klopp filled his team’s holes accordingly back in 2018 when he brought in Van Dijk for £ 75m, Alisson for £ 65m and Fabinho for £ 39m.
As his squad ages, the time will come when he will have to keep investing again, but that time is not now.
The German will have to make his decisions at the right time if, for example, he feels it is time to improve on his top three, but despite Mane and Firmino’s disappointing campaigns last year, the duo has not yet made it to the Placed pasture.
Therefore, Liverpool’s strongest line-up remains practically undisputed with a lot of depth behind it.
Sure, the Reds will continue to step up to add to that depth, like they did at Jota last summer.

And while injuries cost them dearly last year, such a situation was unprecedented and the only reason those holes appeared in Klopp’s squad.
With players like Van Dijk and Henderson now back from their layoffs, Liverpool’s squad is once again strongest, with the Reds’ first pick arguably an improvement on the teams that won the Champions League and Premier League.
So don’t expect Liverpool to be struggling to spend a lot on a Sancho, Varane or any other big starter this summer.
Klopp completed this necessary top-class transfer activity three years ago.
