A GROUP of young people has faced a significant challenge in promoting mental health awareness.

Young people from your Housing Group’s foyers in Warrington, St. Helens, Chester and Wigan will cover the distance between Manchester and Sydney in just six weeks.

The Verve Place foyer in Warrington provides services and assisted accommodation for young people aged 16-25 and will work with regional support centers to travel the incredible distance of 21,788.7 km.

The challenge comes at a time when mental and physical health has been compromised after months of lockdown.

The groups aim to engage and motivate yourself through team activities, with an emphasis on how your physical well-being can affect your mental well-being.

Alison Leonard, Foyer Operations Manager at Your Housing Group, said, “We are so proud of all of the young people who are committed to this challenge.

“Lockdown has been a difficult time and we hope that this challenge will keep everyone motivated and positive for their physical and mental wellbeing and give us all a fantastic sense of achievement.”

To keep track of their daily steps and activities, the foyers invested in their young people by giving all 125 smart watch fitness trackers.

To make the challenge even more exciting, there will be a competition between the foyers with weekly leaderboards and total prizes for those who add up the total distance the most.

But all successes, no matter how big or small, are celebrated as every single step increases the challenge of the large team.

In addition, the UK foyers will attempt to network with Australian foyers by sharing “day-in-the-life” stories and ending their virtual travel experience with a full cultural exchange.

This challenge should be completed on June 21st.
