Expected last League One table for Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic before Christmas

The January transfer window will open shortly for clubs in League One at the halfway point in the campaign.

The festive period is usually a busy time in terms of the games taking place, but the games are up in the air to some extent as infection rates with Covid-19 are rising and this is affecting the games.

That was evident at the weekend as games across the EFL were postponed amid coronavirus outbreaks, as was the case with Bolton Wanderers when their home game against Wycombe Wanderers was canceled due to positive tests at the Whites’ camp.

Due to Covid, only half of League One’s games took place over the weekend, with sides in the division all going up and down with varying numbers of games played.

Throughout the campaign, football stats website FiveThirtyEight is forecasting how the League One table could finish following the results of each matchday, with the season peaking at the end of April.

And Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic are currently the two teams that will be promoted automatically.

Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers are the four teams poised to finish in the play-offs, with Bolton Wanderers currently forecast in 14th.

The four sides likely to be relegated to the second tier are Morecambe, Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra.
