Earlier this week, Brazilian club Fluminense announced that midfielder Metinho is on his way to his new club in Europe this summer.
It has been widely reported that he has been sold to the City Group but unlikely that his teammate Kayky, who is heading to Manchester City next year, will join Troyes first.
Both players should complete moves next year and when Fluminense announced that Metinho was leaving it sounded more like a request from the European side, as it usually does.
In an interview with Netflu, however, the player’s father now claims that there is another reason for the early move.
It is said that when the Rio de Janeiro side agreed on the deal with the City Group and Manchester City, they promised that the midfielder would be used this year and that is not the case.
“The situation is that Metinho doesn’t play and Manchester City agreed to them but they were cowards and didn’t make the kid play,” Abel Silu told Netflu.
“You only gave him one chance, against Portuguesa. And he played well, then he wasn’t in the squad again. After a few days he asked for more chances and I knew that Roger thought that attitude was bad. And he didn’t use it anymore.
“Imagine you have a child in the house who is hungry and the father will punish him if he asks for food. They did that with Metinho at Fluminense. “
Metinho is expected to be officially sold to Manchester City and then join Troyes on loan.
The 18-year-old is still about to make his first-team debut.
