Purslow pops international controversy
Aston Villa boss Christian Purslow has interfered in the controversy between Brazil and Argentina.
During the World Cup qualifier between the two countries in Sao Paulo on Sunday evening after the game started, Brazilian health authorities stormed the field.
They wanted to abandon the game on allegations that the four Argentine players in the Premier League violated regulations regarding entry to Brazil under coronavirus restrictions.
Two of the Argentine quartet are Villa players, Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez, who are believed to have left Brazil for Europe and will return to their club in due course.

Police release statement on the controversy between Brazil and Argentina
Brazilian police have confirmed they are investigating how Aston Villa couple Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia and Tottenham duo Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero arrived in Brazil ahead of the abandoned World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
The Premier League quartet was at the center of the drama on Sunday when Brazilian health officials stormed the pitch in Sao Paulo less than 10 minutes into the game.
The four Covid-19 protocols are alleged to have been breached upon entry into the country and police have now confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
“We have initiated the establishment of a process to investigate the possible crime of ideological untruth,” said the federal police via Sport Witness to the Brazilian outlet EFE.

Villa said to “give it all” to land Lingard
Jesse Lingard has reportedly turned down a new contract with Manchester United due to a lack of first-team action at Old Trafford.
Lingard was closely associated with Aston Villa earlier this year but chose West Ham where he put in impressive form with nine goals and four assists.
The England international’s contract expires next summer, making him a lucrative free transfer that would attract a number of Premier League clubs.
And Villa sporting director Johan Lange and boss Dean Smith could be tempted to sign a cheap deal in January or wait to sign him for free at the end of the season.
ESPN claims Lingard is determined to find first-team regular football under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who fell into the pecking order.
And while the United boss remains a fan, the Red Devils have significantly strengthened their roster in the attacking areas, further limiting Lingard’s chances of regular football.
