Steal family
W.When her teenage daughter exclaimed, “Why don’t we have advent calendars for birthdays?” Andrew and Charlotte Staal had no answer. After considering the idea and deciding it was brilliant, they set to work on developing a unique premium concept that was already shaking up the UK gift market.
SevenYays was officially launched this month after the idea and production developed during various national locks last year. The new personalized gift service allows users to create custom countdown calendars for birthdays and other occasions for friends and family, or there are multiple pre-made boxes with themes such as gin, wellbeing and celebrations. Customers simply choose six small, high-quality gifts and one larger gift – the Seventh Yay – as well as a card with a personalized message to complete the SevenYays online experience. The boxes will be sent to the recipient in time for the countdown to your special occasion.
SevenYays strives to support independent UK companies with ethical and sustainable values whenever possible. The team also took great care in the development process to make all packaging as environmentally friendly as possible. Cardboard is sourced from FSC-certified sustainable sources and is 100% recyclable. The trays in the SevenYays calendars are made of 86% recycled plastic (made from beverage bottles and other clean plastic waste) and are 100% recyclable. Gift choices include craft gins and rum, wellness products, premium beauty items, sleeping masks, socks, books and technical items, sourced from smaller, independent UK companies where possible.
Charlotte Staal says: “Our daughter had to develop a business idea for a GCSE project. She asked us: “Why don’t we have advent calendars for birthdays? We couldn’t answer, and the more we thought about it, the more we saw what a brilliant idea it was. “
“As a family, we put our heads together and talked about it. It seemed like the perfect solution for the current situation. With friends and loved ones stuck in lockdown, what better way to spread some joy? Then we got to work. “
Andrew Staal adds: “We knew from the start that we wanted to give our customers the best gifts. High quality, entertaining, useful, but always with ethical and sustainable values in the foreground. Our most important criteria: Does it make you ‘Yay!’ ?.
“There are so many amazing SMEs that make wonderful gifts and incredible products. We can give them the opportunity to strengthen their brand and increase their sales – and bring our customers exciting new gifts. SevenYays is a fun, fresh approach to giving that extends the fun experience. “
A November 2020 research by Censuswide for Roland DG found that UK shoppers would spend over £ 750 million on personalized gifts during the holiday season alone, with personalized gift buyers expected to spend more than £ 40 each on unique gifts for loved ones. According to the study, UK shoppers are willing to spend an additional 7% on gifts with personalization elements as they think personalized gifts are more thoughtful.
To increase awareness and sales for the SevenYays brand and products, the team has teamed up with Manchester PR agency Purple Riot to promote the brand over the summer months with a mix of social media, PR and influencer marketing Bring to market.
SevenYays started this month with 12 different pre-selected themed boxes and 130 different premium gifts that you can choose from in the option to create your own box. The countdown calendars are available on the SevenYays website at prices starting at around £ 30.
